GTL makes transition to ISO9001-2015

GTL is pleased to report that the company's Quality Management System has successfully made the transition from ISO9001-2008 to ISO9001-2015. As a market leader in precision torque tools, we take our quality standards very seriously; we want to give our customers and distributors every possible assurance that best practice is observed throughout our entire manufacturing process.

The transition to the newest version of ISO9001 included several updated practices. The first involves risk management. GTL considers risk as a possible part of every business process involved in producing our tools, and has measures in place to deal with this. We review these measures and document the process continually.

The second update involves identifying the context of the company, and understanding both the internal and external factors which affect business, and what is done internally and externally to control these. It also involves understanding and identifying all interested parties to our business such as suppliers, customers, distributors, employees; anyone affected by or affecting our business. Awareness of these factors helps to maximise business relationships and resolve any issues which may arise at the earliest possible stage.

The third update concerns management commitment; vital for business success, and something of which GTL has always been proud. It is now further enhanced by added commitments to internal and external communication. This includes the placing of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) boards around the factory to ensure that all GTL employees can see our business performance, monthly briefings to the entire workforce on topics such as business performance, orders, sales, quality assurance, health and safety, and any other relevant issues, and the ongoing creation of job specifications to clarify organisational roles and responsibilities.

Quality Assurance Manager, Matt Corr, who joined us last year and has been working on the updates, said "we are delighted that GTL's determined commitment to quality assurance has been recognised, and we will continue to work on ensuring this excellence in all aspects of our performance."

Matt will now be turning his attention to further updates. These include quality inspection performance, which will involve new machinery to enhance the control process, the environmental standard ISO1400, and increasing GTL's internal auditing capacity.
